The McKinney Independent School District currently operates nineteen elementary schools, five middle schools, three high schools, and two special programs centers. These twenty-nine schools are attended by more than 20,000 students who live in McKinney, Fairview, and Lucas.
For the 2009-2010 school year, McKinney ISD was rated academically acceptable by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Ten of its campuses received exemplary ratings, sixteen received recognized ratings, one received an academically acceptable rating, and two were not rated. The percentage of McKinney ISD students passing the 2009-2010 Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) was somewhat higher than for all Texas schools.
Three McKinney ISD schools are attended by students living in the luxury home neighborhoods profiled on this web site. As shown below, one of these campuses was rated exemplary by the TEA based on its 2009-2010 school year performancesand two received recognized ratings.
