The McKinney Independent School District currently operates nineteen elementary schools, four middle schools, and four high schools. These twenty-seven schools are attended by more than 20,000 students who live in McKinney, Fairview, and Lucas.
For the 2006-2007 school year, McKinney ISD was rated academically acceptable by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Nine of its campuses received exemplary ratings, five received recognized ratings, thirteen received academically acceptable ratings, and one was not rated. The percentage of McKinney ISD students passing the 2006-2007 Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) was significantly higher than for all Texas schools.
Four McKinney ISD schools are attended by students living in the luxury home neighborhoods profiled on this web site. As shown below, two of these campuses were rated exemplary by the TEA based on their 2006-2007 school year performances, and two received academically acceptable ratings.
