The Plano Independent School District currently operates three pre-schools, forty-three elementary schools, twelve middle schools, four high schools, four senior high schools, and two special programs centers. These sixty-eight schools are attended by approximately 54,500 students who live in Plano, Allen, Dallas, Murphy, Parker, and Richardson.
For the 2006-2007 school year, Plano ISD was rated academically acceptable by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Twenty-four of its campuses received exemplary ratings, eighteen received recognized ratings, twenty received academically acceptable ratings, and four were not rated. The percentage of Plano ISD students passing the 2006-2007 Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) was significantly higher than for all Texas schools.
Sixteen Plano ISD schools are attended by students living in the luxury home neighborhoods profiled on this web site. As shown below, three of these campuses were rated exemplary by the TEA based on their 2006-2007 school year performances, six received recognized ratings and seven received academically acceptable ratings.
