The Plano Independent School District currently operates three pre-schools, forty-one elementary schools, thirteen middle schools, five high schools, three senior high schools, and six special programs centers. These seventy schools are attended by approximately 55,000 students who live in Plano, Allen, Dallas, Murphy, Parker, and Richardson.
For the 2010-2011 school year, Plano ISD was rated recognized by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Twenty-five of its campuses received exemplary ratings, twenty-two received recognized ratings, eighteen received academically acceptable ratings, and six were not rated. The percentage of Plano ISD students passing the 2009-2010 Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) was somewhat higher than for all Texas schools.
Nine Plano ISD schools are attended by students living in the luxury home neighborhoods profiled on this web site. As shown below, three of these campuses were rated exemplary by the TEA based on their 2010-2011 school year performances and six received recognized ratings.
